Grunting with the effort, the three Minish slowly pulled him up and into the crack, and he tumbled through into the darkness. only for a hand to grab his on the way down. The world expanded around him, and he began falling to the ground. One by one, the Minish wriggled their way inside, and once all three were in, he started chanting, summoning the blue runes. Kori then looked up at Link and did the same, and he walked over to the crack and put his hand up to it. Jotari still wore his usual sullen expression, but nodded. “It's a better bet than the hallway,” Festari pointed out. “We have no idea if it even goes anywhere, much less if it lets out somewhere safe.” He frowned deeply and looked off toward the right, worried that he might have to chance using his speed after all- then something caught his eye. Link frowned at the evasion, but silently conceded the point, looking again at the hallway and thinking hard. What is important is getting through this corridor.” He lost all claim to that when he turned on us and started all of this." He made a dismissive gesture. ![]() "He's a traitor and a murderer, is what he is," Jotari growled. "We're not exactly proud of it, you know. Link rubbed his chin, pondering this- and then the last part of her statement clicked, and he gaped at her for a moment, before demanding clarification.įestari grimaced. ![]() The only other Minish who's managed it is Vaati." "It's been speculated and theorized about for centuries, and there are rumors of a Minish magician who was able to pull it off about four hundred years ago, but if he did, he never bothered to share his method. "My, what a novel idea!" Jotari said, sarcasm oozing from every syllable. Link frowned as something occurred to him, and he asked if it was possible, since they could shrink him, for them to grow themselves to his size in the same way. That'd also trap us into the bargain, assuming we didn't just get mulched outright.” Jotari looked irritated, then let out a weary sigh. He didn't want to risk overextending himself again. Link hesitated, considering his words carefully, then pointed out that he'd had to use that power once to get back to them, then again in the tile chamber, and it was already taking a toll. “Can't you just woosh us through with that speed of yours?” Jotari asked. Link agreed, before asking how they were supposed to get through. “Does this feel like a last line of defense for something important, or is it just me?” “Just about everywhere but across, but yeah,” Kori agreed. “Gets the point across, though,” Festari noted. His blasé words were offset a bit by the sweat dripping from his forehead. “Sheesh, that's a little excessive,” Jotari quipped. So it remained for a few moments, until the whole thing was sucked upwards into the ceiling, which rippled like water.Ī moment more, and the corridor was just as empty and silent as it had been when they'd arrived, with even the Gem Shards having vanished completely. Within seconds, the hallway was filled with great columns of rock smashing and slithering around each other like live worms, until at last every possible crevice of space had been filled with stone, essentially turning the corridor into a massive stone block. A number of these spires also collided with each other, shattering on impact and scattering pebbles in all directions- and wherever the pebbles landed, it'd trigger another volley of spears from the walls. Spires of rock, each one tapering down to needle-sharp points, slithered from the rock walls like fingers punching through wet clay, spearing toward the shards and slamming into them with enormous crunches. It struck the ground and shattered on impact, its shards faintly glowing purple for an instant- and then the walls erupted. Instead of replying, Kori glanced at the crystal she was still “holding,” then thrust her arm foward, sending the Gem piece careening into the passage. “So, what kind of trap does everyone think we're dealing with here?” Festari queried. Very, very faintly in the distance, they could see a door. ![]() It was made of the same dull stone as the entrance chamber, and the walls were flat and unadorned. The trip up the stairs was uneventful, and at the top was an entrance to a long, narrow hallway.
